The Abbey of Sainte-Marie des Deux-Montagnes is a community of strictly contemplative women founded in Canada in 1936. Headed by the Abbey of Saint-Pierre de Solesmes in France, we belong to a family of monasteries called the Solesmes Congregation.
In keeping with the rich heritage of the Catholic Church, we worship in the ancient and awe-inspiring tradition of Cluny celebrating the Divine Office in Latin and Gregorian chant. We invite you to share our way of life centered on the Word of God.

Come and see women religious living in a cloistered community, pursuing sanctification through the sanctuary by celebrating the Solemn Liturgy, in Latin and Gregorian chant, and enjoying the simplicity and purity of monastic life in obedience to the Holy Father, and the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church.
Vocations
Today as in the past, we carry on the tradition of Gregorian chant and Latin studies centered on the Word of God. Our Biblical study gives particular focus to traditional ecclesiastical and monastic studies. In addition to these intellectual endeavours, all arts and crafts which nourish our sanctification and embellish the Liturgy are esteemed and cultivated. All these works are performed in prayer, through prayer and for prayer. The Solemn liturgy, a living part of our lives, is rooted in daily practice and attention, so that our every breath and gesture expresses our inner life with the Holy Trinity.
